Darcane Arts Exhibit in Revelation Exhibition at new gallery space at Exeter Northcott Theatre. at Exeter Northcott Theatre, Exeter, Devon
September 5th 00:00am, 2008 : November 8th 00:00am, 2008
REVELATION exhibition 5 September - 8 November 2008. September brings the second exciting exhibition from the xNorthcult Gallery: Revelation. xNorthcult is a collaborative project between Exeter Northcott and the people behind the acclaimed gallery space at last year's Aeon festival on Dartmoor, Laura Robinson and Rob Portus. Following on from the hugely successful "The Unknown" exhibition at Exeter Northcott, Revelation is the second of six exhibitions that form the initial cycle of xNorthcult events and features work from world-renowned painter and ceramicist Nicholas Eastwood. Nicholas is Exeter based and for many years lectured in contemporary art for Exeter University. He has an established and formidable practice that has been witnessed in many exhibitions around the world since his debut in 1969 in Paris, at the Gallery Jean Camion. For several years now Nicholas has been working with Spanish guitarists and composers to interpret their music into a visual form and he will be delivering a short illustrated introduction to his abstract art on the launch night, which will feature some of the music that has inspired his work. "Revelation" features work from southwest artists Alistair IW Campbell, Ben Bennett and Michael Buckland, as well as more from xNorthcult favourites Lawson E. Rudge, Lee Godfrey and Darcane Arts. "Those who visited the "Unknown" exhibition and helped celebrate the launch of the new gallery space will know that we pride ourselves on the diversity of art and arts based activities that form our unique programming. There will be something to suit all persuasions; a great atmosphere, great art and another night of great live music to build on the success of our launch," said Laura Robinson. The exhibition is previewed on Friday 5 September 2008 with a sparkling reception for press and VIP's. The doors then open to the public from 8pm. To help celebrate the second launch, there will be exciting music from Cornish based outfit "The Harry Munk Project" who have supported Space Ritual (Nik Turner from Hawkwind) and Asian Dub Foundation. Their amazing sound fuses house, drum and bass and Ska rhythms with live drums and the mesmerising voice of lead singer Lenni. This will be followed by a live set from Exeter's Jam the Channel DJ's. The exhibition will run from 5 September until 8 November. The café and bar is open Monday - Friday for lunch between 12-2pm. The first exhibition "The Unknown" is still available for viewing until 29 August and photographs from the first launch night can be seen on the Exeter Northcott website. xNorthcult are constantly looking for innovative artists to become involved in this project so if you are interested, please check the website or contact Laura Robinson at xnorthcult@yahoo.co.uk for further details.
