Emma Bishop
Contemporary fine art oil paintings on canvas. Inspired by Devon’s seascapes and countryside Emma combines oil paint and illustration techniques to produce colourful and distinctive canvasses. She is inspired by colour, natural forms, light sources and human contributions to natural landscapes. Emma creates her compositions from photographs and sketches made on her journeys around Devon, Dorset and Cornwall. She then creates her paintings at her studio in the beautiful seaside town of Budleigh Salterton, which inspires a great deal of her work. The work focuses on Devon’s stunning scenery; sea and sky, fields and cliffs, stone, trees and rock formations all feature in Emma’s brightly coloured works. Having spent 6 years studying in London to gain both a BA and MA in Fine Art from Camberwell School of Art and the London College of Printing, Emma moved to Devon in 2007 in order to concentrate solely on painting the counties rich landscapes. Whilst studying in London Emma worked as a free-lance illustrator for various advertising agencies and publishing houses. She has twice been involved with group shows at London’s ICA and has exhibited her work across the UK and Europe.
