My work is concerned with Landscape and how it is represented and relevant in a 21st century context. These artefacts can be likened to a painterly canvas which explore colour, light, movement, space, time frames and sound using video projection as the main dissemination device within a gallery environment. The main subject of my work has been to find meaning in the natural environment predominantly the sea. SUBMERSION. Video Installation. Translating the movement of water and investigating the form of the ocean. Slight changes in wind direction, the strength of the currant and the rise and fall of waves, sense and experience rhythms and pattern emerge. As the work progresses its pace and feeling change with the tides, taking the viewer on a journey from the often harsh violent pace of the seas surface to the beautiful calm of submersion. DIGITAL WAVE. Three Screen Video Installation. Using repeating waves to create a formal motif, which invokes memory, conflict and representation. These mini events only last 2 or 3 seconds before they are repeated. These compositions immerse the viewer in a pictorial landscape, radiant and impressionistic developing rhythmical patterns in sound and image, colliding together flows and colour to create optical effects of time and space.
